Spring Breakers 🌷
Never too early right?
It’s been feeling like a little mini version of Spring Break. Spring issues of the latest mags are out on newsstands, tax season is here (this is a reminder to do mine) patio tables are perfectly perched on sidewalks. I even went to visit the homestead in Indiana and see my now (2)!!! tiny baby nieces. Being the Cool Aunt is fun. Don’t tell my sister that, she can earn a different title on her own.
Check out the damage of the nightstand next to my twin bed at my parents house. I feel like this is kind of art? *Ahem* girls who cluster? To be fair, this is how messy my nightstand gets in my own apartment typically. And the rest of my room. And bathroom. And whole space. And before you bring it up, yes the twin bed is nice and comfy and compact, like a little burrito.
This past weekend brought us more sun, more drinks, more movies and more new eats. I recently had an abrupt goodbye with my favorite denim puffer, may it find love in it’s new home somewhere in LaGuardia Terminal 3 .
I was in an Lyft recently and I heard Fight Song by Rachel Platten and I genuinely forgot that song existed. I really wanted to plug my ears but what a moment that song had.
Mercury is finally out of retrograde and I am officially out of my luteal phase. Praise be to whatever is above us. I've been lacking my usual creativity and inspiration and want to get back to it. I hope I’m not the only one? Partially why I took a mini pause from my little internet corner not for lack of interest but life is exhausting sometimes isn’t it?
I know we’re getting situated back from Spring Break but there’s still a r.e.p.o.r.t. but it’s a fun one (when is it not?) I promise!
Reading: I just finished The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. A fun fact about me is I’ve never really dabbled with a long series or a trilogy or anthology. It’s too much of a commitment but also most long series like this are fantasy or something related to that genre and I’m not all that inclined to pick it up. I always skipped Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games. Until now; although just the one series, let’s not get too excited. I do love a page to screen adaptation and a star-studded cast and I was also strongly influenced by a friend of course. So recently I started and finished my journey in Panem and really enjoyed it. I finished the three books and watched all but Part 1 of 2 of Mockingjay. Perfect casting. If I read these books in junior high/early high school when they came out, let’s just say I would be wrecked? Team Peeta all the way. These books were absolutely ahead of its time. Although one major thought…Jennifer Lawrence plays the symbol of a societal uprising and a political revolution yet in 2026 she’s going to say she’s not political?
Eating: The patty melt and cheese curds from Rose Marie. A little comfort food in a lovely space. I can’t wait to go back 📻 Followed by another jaw dropping meal at my first visit to Via Carota. Unfortunately, it absolutely does live up to the hype. I didn’t have to wait much at all on a beautiful Sunday afternoon for this lunch. I’ll be thinking about the tagliatelle for the foreseeable future.
I still have to give a shoutout to a Midwest staple, Texas Roadhouse. Just look at these rolls. Don’t ask me how many baskets we got 😵💫
I once had a date tell me I seem like I can dine at the nicest place in town but also order Taco Bell at 2AM.. and still to this day that’s one of the best compliments I’ve ever received. Wonder what ever happened to him. Perhaps out manipulating more women?
Playing: Audrey Hobart’s album. A little late than never right? Silver Jubilee takes the 🎂
Obsessing: Over these jelly bags from Farm Rio. 🪼 Specifically the green one. I won’t get one I swear 😮💨
Recommending: Stars wine bar. Perfectly tiny and home to only 12 seats, it’s the perfect spot for a glass of red. Or 2!
Treating: Myself to a new wallet. Read my last Hall Pass and you just might know what it looks like 🎀 Let’s just say it’s quite perfect. I guess you could say I was a little inspired after seeing this treat of a documentary.
Some extra credit for the week!! 📓
Don’t forget it’s Art House Cinema Week here in New York!
I’m so here for The Zara Larssonification (spelling) of it all. 🏄♀️ The internet is a crazy place isn’t it? Big Fan of the aquatic elements all year round.
Even McSweeney’s Quarterly took a page from her book 🐬
And the Beaded Bodega 🍎🍕🍪 A beaded embroidery artist hand makes all of these tiny beaded treats.
And that’s what’s you missed on Glee. Don’t forget to advocate for yourself, stay cute stay fun and a reminder you don’t have to prove anything to anyone. Xoxoxoxoxo 💋 that rhymed!! bonus points!
